7DEADLY SINS - GREED (take 2)

Four squares of chocolate and two cups of coffee later
(okay six squares! we can see how I cope with stress!!!)

....here we go again! LOL

The next installment of

WICKED PRINCESSES 7 DEADLY SINS CHALLENGE
is underway....

The 5th challenge is GREED

Greed –The sin of excess, greedy behaviour. Wealth, scavenging and hoarding of objects are a few of these behaviours
How many is too many?? What is your obsession?? Is it shoes, bags, jewellery?? We want you to scrap about your “greedy” obsessions. What do you have so many of, that its become out of control?
The Challenge must include:
Journaling in List Form
Stamping Technique
Black/Yellow/White only

LOs must be loaded to the gallery by Saturday 22nd May, 10.00am.
You have a little bit longer this week.

Here's my Layout:

Pink paisy, doodlebug and Rusty pickle PP, Prima collage, Bella, scrapworks(?) and Sassafrass lass Stamps, Maya road rubons, Wicked princesses tag, transparency, plastic flower, yellow and clear embossing powder.

Journaling reads:

I have to confess, I have a needy greedy little obsession with
collecting stamps! Not the boring kind that you get form the post office but the creative rubber, unmounted and acrylic kinds that you can lovingly stockpile! LOL I love the their versatility! Most of all, I love them on sale, which is how I’ve managed to accumulate so many over the years. I love looking at them all lined up on the shelf just ready to be the perfect finishing touch .
I was once told “All that paper and those rub on things, you use them once and they’re gone. It makes more sense and I rather see you buy stamps because you can use them over and over again” That was all the encouragement I needed...geez, I bet DH wishes he’d never said that!

The challenge asks for the use of a stamp technique, I used a few.

The background was created with what I think you call a resist technique. In this layout, a Prima collage stamp was used to stamp multiple images over the cardstock, with a stazon watermark pad which is like an ink pad but instead of a coloured ink it stamps a clear sticky image that you sprinkle embossing powder over. The embossing powder sticks only to the sticky image then you heat it up with a heat gun and the powder melts into a raised glossy image. In this case it was a clear gloss that I then washed yellow ink over. Where the stamp was stayed white protected by the clear embossing and the rest of the page goes yellow with the ink.

I also embossed yellow stitching onto a home made transparency . A tricky little exercise combining a heat gun with plastic transparency! LOL

I also stamped an image onto the plastic flower the centre of which I had covered with paint.

Talking of hoarding I am a colossal hoarder from a long line of hoarders ( hi to my darling Dad...when are we garage sailing next?) We prefer not to see it as a disability ( probably as we cant control it! ha) We, like miggets who now wish to be know as little people, choose to refer to ourselves not as hoarders but as "thrifty"! There are a million pages I could create on all my thrifty collections which have now spilled out of the office, out of the house and are now currently threatening to take over the shed! Boy, when I get some spare time to do some altered items I've got ALOT of options!

I digress back to the layout, I just wanted to gloat... oh I mean make mention of the little plastic flower as one of my many thrifty treasures...I told all the doubting Thomas's when I swooped in and collected it and others out of the Christmas 2007 Bon Bon's it would come in handy one day! Now Thomas's who's laughing at whom!!!!

oh and the yellow plastic coated wire holding it on....recycled from the kids Easter bonnets 2008!!! RAOTFL

SLOTHIN' OUT!!! and my attempt @ humour!!!

Here we are at the start of a new week, the start of a new round of 7 Deadly Sins at http://www.wickedprincesses.com.au/wickedblog/ read here or bellow about it but whatever you do don't be slothful... get an entry in. We're all having a blast...don't forget to checkout the gallery.

Sloth- Originally the sin of sadness or despair. The modern meaning - a sin of laziness or indifference, of an unwillingness to act, to care.
This week we want you to scrap pictures of you, your husband, your kids, your dog, whatever! lazing around doing nothing-sleeping, playing Wii, crashed on the couch!
The Challenge-
Use 2 handmade embellishments on your LO, one must be made from a non traditional scrapping product
Technique that must be used is Stitching
Monochromatic Layout Color- Light Blue.
You have until 8am Saturday May 16th to load your entries to the gallery in the Sloth layout…don’t waste time, don’t sloth about..get creating!

Here's my inspiration for you ! LOL

My handmade embellishments are the flowers, one of the embellishments had to be made from a non scrapping item. I used two non scrapping items to sandwich a kaiser flower with. Okay not technically correct but it just happened and I thought it looked good! LOL

here's how they originally started...

Mate talk about getting carried away ....did someone say "stitching" as a feature! RAOTFL three and half skeins of embroidery thread later. Can u tell this is my "thing" atm. Nothing looks finished to me without a stitch or two ...or five hundred! I love the end look of this layout but it has a back ground story of tragedy to tell....
once upon a time there was this scrappychick... (LOL)
A WARNING TO ALL....
( and if you a scrapper from the Creative Memories school, you know thou shall not injure or risk the photograph in any way, you may wish to stop reading now as the following content may traumatise some CM consultants! LOL)
IF YOU apply household BLEACH ( that's right I said bleach people! ) to your photo for artistic effect make sure you wash it off completely to stop the erasing process!!!! (gasp!) Other wise... well the photo below is what I had based my layout on, false thinking that this pic was waiting safely in reserve just to throw on the layout...
well imagine my surprise....

Where is the room, my family etc!???

here's how it should be done to good effect

( keep your eyes opened I've got plans for this pic!)

So after choice words were said I spent three hours wading through my files looking for the picture to reprint...in a hurry!

NOPE NOT GUNNA HAPPEN!!!

OKay, what was I to do (more choice words! LOL) ...

can you keep a secret?

Sad but true we had to have a reenactment ...it wasn't Saturday but we could pretend... the kids were an easy sell, it was DH I was worried about. But I wasn't giving in on this page. It had to be the way I planned! So trying hard not to look at hubby, I called the kids explained what I wanted them to do.

Still avoiding looking at hubby I called "places everyone". The kids were smiling and laughing... just maybe it wasn't as crazy as it seemed. Just maybe it was going to be okay.. ..and then I did it. Like that Greek chick who got turned to stone! I had to look! There was the look on Dh's face I had dreaded that look that said "are you really serious? This is a tad bit obsessive and you are loosing your marbles darl" and... I was stone!

Grinning sheepishly I said " yep I know!"..." just go with the flow it, wont hurt I promise!" LOL I regathered my faculties and re focused on the job at hand...

this kid sit forward , this kid sit back, that kid stop pickin' your nose! And I took the photo. 8 of them, in fact! just to be sure !

Half an hour later, while victoriously printing the pictures out, I felt a sense of relief. I'd stared down non artistic Mr commonsense & logic and and like a giant band aide of dread I'd ripped it off , & it only stung a little bit!!!

All's well that ends well !I got what I wanted, learnt some valuable lessons and best of all.... now nothing much I do in the future will come as a surprise to DH!!! LOL

As a footnote to this story the picture is completely factual, errr umm in what it conveys...("its the vibe of it" to quote DH's favourite movie, The castle), this is indeed an example of the perfect slothful Saturday that I long for and occasionally get to enjoy. Surrounded by the kids, enjoying the cartoons!

I love it most of all, in winter when the rest of the worlds freezing and the delicious warm afternoon sun comes streaming through the french windows. You cant see them in the picture but right beside me and my favourite plush recliner!!! Unfortunately, sometimes the suns glare leads you to have to make the tough decision to abandon your"research" ( reading the scrappin mags) so that's when you've been left with no other option but to .... have a SLEEP! raotfl!

I've got more to tell you all about, I have to show you all the latest work but it'll have to be tomorrow as I promised myself an early night, the first night in weeks! I thought it was time although I've become so nocturnal! I havent sprouted wings yet but was starting to worry I'm developing radar to guide me round the dark house, in the wee hours and have this overwhelming the urge to sleep upside down. LOL

YEP I"M DEFINATELY TIRED, DELIRIOUS AND RAMBLIN!!! LOL

Gnight all.

WRATHFUL PRINCESSES

Wrath – The third most deadliest sin, and described as inordinate and uncontrolled feelings of hatred and anger
Do you get angry?? Is there something really makes your blood boil?? We all have temper trantrums at some stage in our life, some more often than others !! What makes you fly into a fit of rage.
This week, we want you to scrap about a time in your life when you have had a meltdown, and what caused you to act this way.

The challenge
Technique - Paint/Ink effects
Technique - Tearing/Distressing
Colors - Black/White/Red only

You have until 8.00AM Saturday 9th May to load your work into the Wrath gallery folder. Get angry, get mad and get those LO’s into the gallery by the deadline !!!

HERES MY TAKE:

Journalling reads: "Oh the damage I do to this room! There’s only a few reasons this room ever gets tidy...when I’ve lost something (usually the tiniest brad, bead or gem!), when I’m procrastinating or when my in-laws’ are coming! LOL I just can’t help it... it’s the creative process!"

Scenic route, MM and BG PP. Maya Road mist. American crafts letters and cardstock arrows. BG spotty ribbon, Kaiser and queen & co brads. Colour core cardstock (perfect for distressing, as you rub sand paper over the black coating it sands off to reveal the white core of the cardstock - loads of possibilities and fun!) ARTIST ENVY

7 DEADLY SINS Competitions- ENVY @
http://www.wickedprincesses.com.au/wickedstore/

Envy – Characterised by an insatiable desire. Those who commit the sin of envy resent that another person has something they perceive themselves as lacking, and wish to deprive that other person of it.
The challenge this week is all about the Green Eyed Monster.

You have 2 choices for this challenge
1. Green Eyed Monster - Scrap the “monsters” in our lives that scare us.

2. Green Eyed Monster - Scrap about the “monsters” that come out of us when we are jealous.. What makes you jealous?

Colors to be used are Green and Black only
Must use a transparency
Technique is Doodling

HERES MY LAYOUT:

Journalling reads..."I thank these three amazing artistic souls; they never fail to be a constant source of inspiration and wisdom to me. Often, I find my awe turn to envy as I admire and long for the skill and beauty I see in their work."
I used hambly screen, heidi swapp and my own journal transperencies. I used BG, k&co PP, scrapworks rub ons, buzz and bloom chipboard stalk and leaves and prima felt flowers and buttons. I doodled in zig & soufle pens and covered some in dimentional magic. oh and if you happen to notice a cute little birdie hes a maya road rub on.
