OMG I AM SO DARN PROUD OF MY BOY!!!!

We went to the raginest (Its okay mum, I know theres no such word!) event of the century on the weekend the...Temora rural show!!! The weather was discusting, wet and cold with an estimated top of 10 deg's, I dont think. Add to that showies charging $7 a ride, nagging kids, showground mud under your feet and dirt in your hair from the icy tornatoes , and you know what ......I'd brave it for a week to see the look on my amazing artist son Connors face when he realised he'd won first prize!!!

Connors grinning his head off, Jarreds not sure about the fuss his mums making!!!LOL
Just below this type is "the AT AT" out of star wars that Connor drew and got 1st prize for!!!
bellow that is his stagecoach and saloon picture.
Please do click to open this pic the AT AT needs to be seen to be believed!!!

The green ribbon was his 3rd prize for a drawing of a sailling ship.
Dirrectly under that is his dragon pic.
The motor bike in the middle was his,
as too was the racing car in the bottom left (mums fav!)
Something just kicked in about a month ago and I cant stop him drawing up a
storm even if I wanted to.
Hard to believe this is the boy I worried about who
wouldn't  draw or even hold a pencil before he went to school.
Now hes the youngest kid in 10 specially selected children at his school
 in an art enhancement program!
( yea I know brag, brag, brag! Got to where I can..trust me!)

So in summary he enter five drawings and  won the under 8's art catergory
at the show and got third as well in the same section!!!
He was so EXCITED!!!
I AM SO PROUD!!!
ALL ROADS LEAD TO THE LOUVE!!!
LOL
And to top the day off a great feed at my mums for tea and
my MIL bought me an amazing vanilla sented candle I'd been eyeing off!

oh and Connor was stoked he got a whole $1 prize money! RAOTFL

Thursday/Fridays effort:

Making Memories ,Basic grey and October afternoon PP, bird transparency, paint thread, beads and wire.
Daniels teacher has had skin cancers removed off her face so I thought I would try and cheer her up it has been quite an ordel for her. She is such a lovely lady and so good to Daniel.

Sundays effort......

This is a pic of my cousins wife Tiara and my other cousins daughter Annika. The scanner cut off my beautiful stitchery so I'll take better photos and post later. You cant really see the layered effect and the depth and texture of this layout doesnt show up from the scan. I cut a window into thick 12 x 12 chipboard, then everything, the photo, all the strips and journalling are at different heights. I maya road misted some bazzill textured cardstock that makes the background and then went over it with an ink pad to pick up the swirls. I think most of the rest is BG a bit of june bug and lime Ricky. Along with a Prima stamp into Tim Holtz crackle paint and American craft chipboard alphas!

 Mondays effort:
outa my own lil head....

My grandfather Tim Flint and I on his 84th birthday!
"always remember.... its all about family"

Please excuse the picture quaility or lack of...This house of no light is really

BAD, BAD TOOTHFAIRY!!!!

Thats it! This is our last ditch effort to tell that lazy (forgetful?!) toothfairy to get her act togther ...short of a neon sign, I think she'll get the message Connor! He also believes as the toothfairys appology she should cough up an extra dollar like she did for Daniel last time she forgot! PHEW! I think that fairy cannot sustain her current lapse in concentration as it'll cost her a fortune the way teeth are falling out in this house!!! She had an excuse this time I pointed out to Connor she probably didnt see his tooth in the medicine cup of water by his bed. So I gave him a pretty BIG glass she surely wouldnt miss!!!LOL

"She "

Celebrate all the women in your life. Here is an unforgettable testimony to the strength, beauty and tenderness of the female spirit.

I do adore this lady in so many ways, her ART, her strength and in her spirit that just leaps out to colour your day vibrant! I wanted to speak about how shes influenced me to embrace art, colour and life in general. To be honest I was afraid to choose the words so when I read the following
and it was perfect I nearly fell over ...

please read on.....

" Look around. There are certain women in our world who have the gift of finding joy everywhere and leaving it behind them wherever they go. You'll usually find them immersed in their work or slow dancing with their dreams, or making a difference for all those around them . These are the women who can flood our souls with light and laughter... strength and courage...hopes and dreams. It's not just what they do that sets them apart its how they make us feel.

We are so lucky and blessed to have these special woman in our lives. Its hard to express how we feel about them, but here's something we can do; We can love them, celebrate them and thank them."

Now that was coincidentally some of the blurb on the dust cover of the copy of "she" that Ngaire sent me. How amazing when I was stuck for words I should find all of them in her generosity.

Thankyou Ngai

An OMG lesson from Tim Holtz website!!!!

"
have you ever had one of those moments in life when something happens and you don't know whether to laugh out loud or burst into tears? well i received an email this week from someone sharing her tales of one of those moments...
meet bianca. she's 2.5 years old and loves to craft - using mommy's art supplies of course... her favorite craft you ask??? painting with ranger's paint dabbers of course. her mom dalis wrote me this: "it's a shame that I can't seem to find the picture of the wonderful "altered" flat screen TV that she did that day... If you ever need to know 1 bottle of Terra Cotta Paint Dabber it is enough to cover an ENTIRE 24" flat screen TV, plus partially a 2.5yr old girl!"...

as they say, if a picture is worth a thousand words - well then, this video is definitely priceless - enjoy one of those laugh out loud moments...t!m

TECHNIQUE TUESDAY

Got a couple little rough tid bits for all tonight.
I made this card for FATHERS DAY.
It's a bit rustic.
As a card maker I'm good at ah ...well other things! LOL
 so here we go...

For this card I used these stamps:

Arent they the greatest!!! Check them all out at

1) I cut american crafts pp into a rectange then stamped this TV image onto it using stazon ink
(bit better than this one I am using as a demo! LOL) Then cut out the "screen". I used "crafty secrets stamps" These are a little hard to get and xxxy to buy here but omg
so great orginal design and clear crisp image I love em!!!
(if anyone knows a shop that sells them...email me!)

2) I made a brave decision ( or foolish ) and decided to cut up the transparency image that came with the stamp ( as it has its own storage container I've stamped the images in stazon to the inside of the container for reference) and I made a mask out of it by sticking it to a piece of cardstock and cutting the "screen out of the middle. Now this mask can be reused over and over to put what ever I want on the telly! (scroll down...)

3) To put some blokey things on TV. I cut out the patterned piece in step 1,
now I am making a new screen with a coordinating plain paper ( other wise it would be too busy to see what was on telly. If you were just using a plain paper you wouldnt have to do this!) So I just cut a piece out that covered the opening and stuck it to the back.

4) Then carefully place the mask down carefully lining it up to your previously stamped TV.
Make sure your "screens" line up as acurately as you can.

5) As a wise person once told me "just wack it down" LOL
No! carefully place your precious stamp down
where you would like it to appear on the TV screen.

6) and Voila there you have the finished TV complete with sports channel! LOL

A couple more tips :
I used stazon to stamp my image as I knew I wanted to cover it with dimentional magic to give it the screen look and sometimes in the past, I have put DM over pigment ink and its bleed and /or  spread.

Store and keep the mask you make with your stamps and use it over and over again

When using small pieces of PP or images always make sure they are firmly stuck down before applying dimentional magic because they tend to buckle up  and warp if you apply DM befor you stick them into place. Making it very hard to stick them down without say....cracking a TV screen!!!! ( NOoooooo! Dont scroll back up and have a look at my card! LOL)

Oh while you're up there looking for my mistake, (raotfl) notice how I made my outside images point in to the middle of the card. I was told this is how you draw the onlookers gaze into the card and it put the emphasis on the square in the middle with the oh so true of any man title!

This principle works well on layouts as well, have your portraits "looking" into the centre of your page at the journalling and title. not a must but I have been known to print the odd picture back the front as it looked wrong in its original orientation. (ah did that sound as annal as it just read! ah well! The whack it and slap it down gals will get a laugh!)

And finally here's my man looking a little happy but crumpled on Fathers day morning.
I had his guitar restrung and bought him a new song book!
( I made DAMN sure it didnt have copperhead road in it!!!LOL)
Thanks for putting up with me and co parenting our darling children with me...
I know its not fathers day anymore but just  if you happen to be reading this
I LOVE YA DARLIN
(even more than Timmy Holtz! LOL)
