SCRAPBOOKING on the strength of a CODRAL....

I feel like I havent been here for months ...
more germs throughout the family but I think we're all nearly over them now!

I have managed to fit in some design team  fun for SCRAPTIVATE. I have some other exciting news along these lines I am not sure I can mention as yet but is sure to be the highlight of my year! so Stay tuned! LOL

MY DESIGNS FOR AUGUST FOR SCRAPTIVATE

“IT’S A BOY THING?” LAYOUT

PRODUCTS USED: Bo Bunny PP, Blue canvas paper, Kaiser Chipboard alphabets, Scrapware chipboard cog, Screw Head Brads, Dymo label, Plaid Dimensional magic, Inks and acrylic paint. As well as the inside cogs out of Daisy D roll on rubons cartridges.

FEATURING DT PACK: Bo Bunny “Grease Monkey” Patterned Paper, Kaiser Chipboard alphabets

CREATING 3D ELEMENTS – PLIERS,
SCREWDRIVER & SPEEDO

I trimmed two elements I wanted to highlight out of my patterned paper; the pliers and the speedo and screw driver being very careful not to damage the original PP so they would fit back into it on the final page.

I then stuck the pliers onto an oversized piece of chipboard, then trim the excess chipboard away and pushed a screw brad into place.

The Speedo I traced around the PP piece I had cut out onto the chipboard then cut it out. I measured and cut a piece of transparency to fit like a display screen and stuck it directly to the traced and cut out chipboard. Then creating a “transparency sandwich”, I stuck the PP on over the top both those layers. The inside of the PP, the Speedo dial, I enhanced the numbers and Speedo needle with dimensional magic. Then stuck the outside patterned paper to the layout then the dial into place then the outer screen over the top and gave it and the screw driver which I’d painted black and silver a coat of dimensional magic as well to increase the 3D effect.

“SERIOUSLY CUTE, CAR CRAZY SAM" LAYOUT

PRODUCTS USED: Bazzil cardstock, Bo Bunny PP, LYB thought bubble overlay, Kaiser Chipboard alphabets, Scrapware chipboard sun & tiny cars, Tim Holtz plain grungeboard, Ranger crackle paint and daubers, Cherryarte rubon lettering, LUMINARTE Majestic blue dauber Inks and acrylic paint.

FEATURING DT PACK: Bo Bunny “Grease Monkey” Patterned Paper, Scrapware chipboard, Ranger Crackle paint, Kaiser Chipboard alphabets and letters

PRODUCT FEATURE:

USING Luminarte DAUBERS AND MISTS TO CREATE BACKGROUND

I used a Majestic Blue LUMINARTE RADIANT RAIN Mister in a dauber bottle to create the wash blue sky background moving it left to right across the cardstock in a sweeping motion, while it was wet I smudged some white into the wet background then gave it another coat of radiant rain. Then misted a slightly lighter metallic blue over the top.

Another great thing to do with Radiant rain is to apply it with a paint brush dipped into the bottle. Or get a kitchen sponge and tip some onto the sponge to dip stamps into. Let your pictures and patterns dry completely then paint a wash over them using acrylic paint. The luminarte pattern becomes more subtle but still shines through.

TECHNIQUE FEATURES:

CREATING 3D ELEMENTS – Dry brush Paint the back of overlays as I have here to still get the overlay effect but hide 3D foam or double sided adhesive tape.

For all the details and hints on how I created these two pages check out the SCRAPTIVATE BLOG
