A BIT OF EXCITEMENT AND A FIRST...

Well we made it through the worst holidays ever...kids were sick, I was sick the weather
was cold, crap and wet but they are safely back at school ....sigh!

Winter can't last forever!!! LOL
On to more pleasent subjects..

I created my first page about me...  I have been scrapping for about 8 years! LOL

I created it for a design team submission  for a store called ...

Check it out HERE
I stumbled across this little gem of a store whilst google searching for a product
and fell in love with the brilliant mix of scrapbooking, mixed media and artists supplies.
I get really excited about one stop shops and was even more thrilled to see they had a design call.
I submitted my application and had a dialoge with the owner Natalie and volia!

I will be joining some amazing girls on the SCRAPTIVATE design team!
I have every confidence in this store because unlike alot of others,
the owner is passionate about her craft and is one of the rare few
who own and store and still make time to not only be creative but inspirational as well.

To checkout the brilliant design team, Natalies work and get to know the community
around Scraptivate take a peek and say hello at their Ning site
they have a hints, tips, challenges, a fabulous gallery
and heaps of like minded lovely people who chat away in the online forum.
so take a look...

I love the way the Twiddleybitz frame came up
I first gave it a coat of Tim Holtz Antiqued Bronze Distress crackle paint.
This paint does away with the need to use multiple layers of different coloured paints and crackle mediums.
You just paint it straight on and watch it dry and crackle itself ...it's the funniest way to watch paint dry!

I then layer and rubbed in two coloured inks a red and orange and when I was happy with them I coated the whole thing in dimentional magic! The Twiddleybitz scroll I painted black then applied a Ranger crackle glaze to the piece and got to impaient to watch this one dry so I did what you do when you cant wait with these thing, I heated it with a heat gun. If you dont have one of those a hair dryer is almost as good.

I have a thing for scrolls atm and had this idea to do my layout on a faux one which I created like this...
Short of pens now but EVER so RESOURCEFUL!!!
Work in progress rolling the paper ends over the pen casings and skewers.

Shortening and thinning  the skewers to fit the bead snuggly on the end.

On a final note be sure to take a sneek peek at the HOTTEST
new scrapbooking supplies being released in the states
and soon to be on there way...
